It’s MADDENing
By: Sneakers O'Toole | August 14th, 2009Let the frenzy begin.

If you are one of the whackos devoted fans who waited in line at your local GameStop (or whatever store) for the newest edition of Madden, congrats. You have probably been duped, just like I have been and will be again this year.
EA has this crazy habit of telling people that there has been changes when the developers were actually doing such as activities as this…

Fans have cited NFL 2K5 as the last good football game, and EA has responding by saying, “Oh you caught us. We didn’t change anything between the 08 and 09 editions, and 07 was actually a practical joke. We didn’t think anyone would actually buy it *snickers*.” I never played 2K5, but I can confirm that Madden 09 bores me.
I expect a largely unplayable game once the football fever has cooled off. That time will vary depending on where you loyalties lie. If your team plays (assuming your loyalties don’t change with the wind) the Patriots, Colts, or Steelers, you’ll probably want to set it to Rookie and avenge your team’s drubbing with a 78-2 rematch. Historically, that is where the interest dries up, and you find yourself considering the same activities I just accused EA developers of doing.
However, if you really want to, you can customize your cover. If you don’t want the insufferable Steelers or the worst Super Bowl team ever to play a close game, you can put your favorite player on there. WHOOPIE!
Will of this said, I will still buy the damned thing. I just can’t live without the latest rosters and modernized facemasks!
Enjoy! I will post my opinions of the game after the honeymoon period where no matter how craptastic this year’s game is, it’s wonderful.
Off topic: Is it a coincidence that Landon Donovan was confirmed as contracting swine flu just weeks after Paris Hilton showed up at a Galaxy game?
I think not….

If Paris had something to do with Landon Donovan getting swine flu, Cristiano Ronaldo would have gotten it, too. (and the world would have been a little better for a few days)
